[Build Help] How important is a core when building a pc for gaming?

I'm looking to build a PC (For Skyrim, among other games.) and was looking at this bundle with this graphics card. I know enough about computers to know that an I3 core isn't the best thing out there, but just how big of a deal is it really when I'm building my rig?
