If you think about it, isn't firebending a form of airbending? What with super heating air molecules and all.

I was doing some deep thinking a moment ago, and I was thinking about the mechanics of firebending. It is the only bending where you create the element. It occured to me that maybe the element isn't being created, it's being manipulated?

The only way you can create fire, even with chakra energy and all spurting from your body is by bending the air molecules near your body so they vibrate so fast they turn in to immense heated air and fire. Just a thought!
