An interested atheist who's confused about the religion aspect of Buddhism.

I'm very interested in the teachings of Buddha, mostly because they seem to coincide with my atheist/maybe leaning towards agnostic views.

However, I've seen a few people worshipping the Buddha as a god, using the phrase "Oh Lord" and "God". Is this a different "type" of Buddhism?

What can you teach me about the Buddhism that works with my agnosticism?
