Why are people not more afraid of the looming energy crisis?

It just seems really near sighteded. I think it's well established that the middle east is going to have trouble meeting growing demand and that opec's reserves are a sham. It doesn't seem like many people are actually concerned about what's going to happen when oil becomes 300$ a barrel to every aspect of the economy. It's going to be chaos. Am I just being overly worried?
