(Don't) check out this gross thread in AskReddit

http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/w9usv/what_is_the_douchiestworst_thing_youve_ever_seen/

I made the mistake of reading through this. It is filled with internet tough guys and their stories of seriously injuring other men, by themselves or in packs. I have no problem with anyone defending anyone else who they see being attacked, but what I do have a problem with is that many of these stories involve them attacking and gratuitously injuring men who, for all they know, are the defenders rather than the aggressors. And they seem to have little shame about it - their tone is one of overt bragging or transparent humble-bragging as they puff up their chests to gloat about what tough little sexists they are for "defending" women by piling in on some surrounded guy and getting in a few punches for themselves.

There are a few stories describing innocent guys getting attacked by other men after being attacked by a woman and being misconstrued as the aggressor, one even describes some guy being attacked by every thug around when one of the drunk women assaulting him simply falls down on her own accord. However, these cautionary tales don't seem to slow down the stream of internet tough guy thugs bragging about their sexism or endlessly repeating their grotesque mantra of "Never hit a woman" rather than being decent enough human beings to say "Never hit a person".

Again, I totally support people legitimately defending each other, and stories like these do seem to outnumber the more dubious ones in that thread. There are however still too many of the other kind of story in that thread. It's unfortunate that we have to share a planet with these thugs who, to gain a false sense of power and moral superiority, or simply to impress women, would seriously injure other men without knowing anything about the situation occurring, but would be unlikely to ever be found jumping to the defense of their fellow man if there wasn't something in it for them. What a shameful bunch of tools, frauds, and opportunist pigs.
