Former US Army Medic Trying to get to New Zealand to Pay Respects
Ladies and Gentlemen, On August 19th, 2011 The British Council compound in Kabul, Afghanistan was attacked (story here:[1] http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-14585563). One of the 12 killed was CPL Douglas "Dougie" Grant of the New Zealand SAS (Story: [2] http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/5482313/New-details-as-killed-soldier-identified) I was the medic on site that day and treated 7 people, CPL Grant included. Unfortunately CPL Grant did not survive as the extent of his injuries were beyond the medical capabilities available. (proof: Taken at the scene. I'm on the left [3] http://imgur.com/VhUtO ) With the one year anniversary of this event approaching I am wanting to fly to New Zealand and pay my respects to both CPL Grant and his family. I have set up a paypal account for this and I am asking for any donations anyone would be willing to make. The price of round-trip airfare from Atlanta to Auckland, NZ is just under USD $1,700.00. ANY additional money made will be presented to the family of CPL Grant (Specifically his two children) with thanks for his service and sacrifice. PayPal:[4] whodareswins081912@hotmail.com Please help me out guys, it'd mean more than a lot. Thanks EDIT: Proof:[5] http://imgur.com/cbJBS That is me with a KIA bracelet I had made for CPL Grant Past IAMA: [6] http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/vu141/former_us_army_medic_20092010_baghdad_iraq/ Stuff story: [7] http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/7249822/US-medic-wants-to-honour-fallen-soldier
