friends of reddit, please help me find the right guitar...

I've been playing guitar very casually for about 8 years. I currently own a seagull mini jumbo acoustic which I'm quite content with. I recently got the urge to look for an electric guitar to add some versatility to my palette, and to blow the dust off of my fender amp I've had for quite some time. I would really appreciate some advice and ideas from the reddit community, as I want to make a wise investment in my next guitar.... here is some info to help:

  • I would like to keep my budget at or around $600ish or less
  • I would like something that will last and had a good reputation
  • the style of music I enjoy is mostly alt country, indie rock, classic rock, etc.
  • I'm a wilco fanboy and would enjoy playing a lot of their early stuff along with some of the new -I would like it to be a fairly versatile guitar
  • I recently played a couple of fender jaguars and really enjoyed them, are these decent guitars?
  • I'm open to any brand or style, please share with me any of your thoughts and ideas, I very much appreciate it !

update... just found a used mexi strat on Craig's list, upgraded to Texas special pickups, customized bridge work, and in excellent condition... also has some special modulator installed to modify the pickup options.... they are asking $500 and my research shows that's fairly reasonable.... what does reddit think?
