To my English friends, a question about going to the Olympics.

So I'm going to be in London for work during the duration of the Games. My question is (as an American whose never been to London) will I get the piss taken out of me for wearing Liverpool gear in London? Some of my favorite clothes are Liverpool shirts and I'd like to represent the club, but I'd rather not be beaten up for it given that I'm there for work and unexplained bruises would be frowned upon. (Late night in bars, obviously. I don't expect to get assaulted in broad daylight.) Also, do English people wear their club shirts even if it's not game day? Or would I look like a douche for wearing a club shirt when the season hasn't even started? Thanks in advance.
