The Founding of the Country

The most worrisome aspect to me of this new ultra right movement, is the high jacking of how this country was founded. They wanted people to believe that the country was founded by Christians, for Christians. I am not going to bother with the faith of the founding fathers because they are about as similar as chicken and fish. The founding fathers based the country on Greek and Roman democracy, and the humanism that was developed during the renaissance (I know vastly over simplified). We all know that God and the Bible are not mentioned in The Declaration of Independence or The Bill of Rights. Yet they want to paint a picture that democracy was handed down to the founding fathers from God himself, last time I checked, the Bible was pretty fond of kings. So what are your thoughts atheism? And what should be done to correct this?
