So, I'm getting a nice start in ministry because I decided not to further my education!

First, some background. I recently graduated with a BA in theology and was planning to go off to do an MA in theology. For various reasons, I decided not to do that and to stay where I am. Very big choice, kinda scary at first, but now it's very exciting.

After making this decision, I was nervous. I had only gotten to applying for one job and, I'm happy to say, as of today, I officially got that job. It's exactly the sort of job I was looking for. I'm working in the inner city at a place that's a drop-in centre, soup kitchen, and homeless shelter. My job is support worker and the place is a Christian organization, so I can take pride in knowing that I'm not just working in the area I wanted to, but I'm doing ministry like I wanted to. I feel blessed to have found this job at this time -- some of my friends who definitely have more impressive resumes are having trouble looking for jobs that fit what they want, and this one was just handed to me. This just feels like God was at work pushing me to this place after I realized that I could not go on to do more studies and still feel like I was doing what I was supposed to -- when I talked to a friend about it on Facebook he just told me "you're doing more for the Kingdom where you are than you will in a classroom" -- and I'm glad to be where I am right now.

Hell, at the very least if I work part time I'll be able to buy food and pay rent and, if I get over part-time hours, I'll have plenty of money to pay off my loans :P That's definitely a nice perk.

Here's me with my key to the place: http://i.imgur.com/mOjWv.jpg

They're high-tech and just use a swipe key for everything. That thing gets me in the building through the administration entrance, allows me to use the elevator, and gets me anywhere I want in the building.
