can i get a little help understanding the make-believe man?

As an atheist in a family of mainly christians, i never really asked any questions pertaining to the religion. I'm not sure why, but I never did. oh well. I apologize if it doesn't make much sense. I'm not the best with words :/

But anyway, here's the question: If heaven is a spiritual place that you can only go once you're dead, then how did jesus "ascend into heaven" and come back to Earth? You can't just magically pop out of existence!! (ironic, seeing as how this question is based on a believe system of magic people). The body would have had to go somewhere. I never quite understood this concept...

I do realize this is a question that belongs in r/Christianity, but i find the christians here tend to be less of assholes and actually answer what was asked of them. Thanks!
