What is the worst/Unfortunate vacation you have been on?

A couple years back I went to Poland because that's where my family is from and it was my first visit. After my first night of being there i stayed in my grandma's apartment (many people live in apartments). We were on the third floor and there was a balcony and the door was open to the balcony because it was the middle of the summer. So i woke up early I believe around 7 and my mom and grandmother were still asleep and i guess i was getting used to the time changes from the us to Europe. I couldn't fall back asleep because of a storm coming and thought oh well I will wait it out. So after about 20 minutes of rain and thunder I start to relax, BOOOOOOM the loudest noise I have heard in my entire life even till this day, lightning struck literally right outside the door and just missed the balcony. I jumped, my mom woke up, and my grandma she just kept snoring. After that i pretty much had to stay up because my heart rate just jumped, that also became the rudest awakening ever.

Fast forward maybe a day or two. Me being a nerdy kid I brought my Gamecube to pass time at my grandma's house along with converters for the plugs. I was like 10 at the time so I didn't know for crap what the volts and stuff was for the converter and used a converter that couldn't handle the Gamecubes electrical plug, so I plugged the Gamecube in turned it on and ZAP I hear a frying noise and had no idea where it came from. I thought i fried my Gamecube (which i thankfully didn't) So after a little crying I asked my mom what to do and she talked to my uncle and he said he would check it out.

So skip a few days into the vacation I am in a car with my mom. aunt, and uncle. we are driving back from going shopping and are all happily talking when we look over and see a car in the ditch. We were the first to be there. We pull over and my mom and aunt are freaking out because we realized that it was my other uncles car. We all jump out the car to see what happened and my uncle was just crawling out of the passenger side window. I walk soon after he came out untouched and he says we got there literally a minute after it happened. Being the curious kid and never really seeing much danger let alone a up close car crash I look around to check things out. Pretty much every window was cracked none were broken and the passenger side window was open. I got more enjoyment then i should have from seeing that wreck. So as i was looking around I see my Gamecube cord in the passenger seat, I didn't say anything as I didn't want to be that kid and say "I know you just got in a crash and all but can you still look at my wire?" So I kept my mouth shut and still haven't found out what happened.

Quick wrap up, in the end it wasn't really that bad best vacation I ever went on however if these things didn't happen it might of been a little better, my uncle came out without a scratch from the wreck, the lightning struck because of a metal clothes hanger right next to the building, and I got a new Gamecube wire today. (:
