Electrical engineers, computer engineers/scientists, need your help to give me advices about my path. Quebec student here, CEGEP before college, OR you did your homework in high school.
So in Quebec we have one less year of high school than anywhere else. Then we have multiple choices. 2 years at CEGEP attending classes that prepare you for university (mainly science and maths classes, which i don't want to take since i'm going to get bored out of my mind), or go for a ''technique''. My choice was ''Computerized Systems Technology''. 3 years, makes you a technician (you guys have an idea of what jobs you can get with this title.. installing and repairing stuff, kinda ehhh, not planning to work as a technician my whole life). Here's an anglophone CEGEP that offers this program, so you guys can get an idea of what it's all about: http://www.vaniercollege.qc.ca/computerized-systems/course-details.php (Vanier isn't the CEGEP i applied at btw). So I'm wondering if it's a good background to have if I'm planning on getting an Electrical Engineering degree in college afterwards. Is this going to help me in any way when it comes to getting a job? Is it going to help me for my studies at university? Is it too long to be worth it? Like, doing this whole 3-year program while telling myself ''well, i could be getting a degree at the university of Ottawa right now..''. I'm basically afraid of it being a waste of time. Also, i didn't take high school too seriously since i was a stupid teenager who was wondering more about hanging out with friends rather than doing his homework. So yeah my grades are by a lot under what I am capable of. I got accepted to CEGEP, but still applied for EI at uOttawa and didn't get an answer yet. Reason I included computer engineers/scientists in the title because i'm also interested in this program: http://www.uottawa.ca/academic/info/regist/calendars/programs/625.html. Should I take a year off to re-do some of my high school classes or should i just go for the 3-year program and transition into college?
