Vans or Chucks?

So I've read through the shoe guide 2.0; great guide and gave me some idea of what to look for.

Now, personally, I like canvas shoes; I got a pair of white American Eagles from my ex as a birthday/Christmas present. Regardless of the branding, they were good looking shoes and I loved the hell out of them.

However, they're pretty fugly now, so I obviously can't wear them, and I need a replacement ASAP, since I've recently been wearing my objectively unfashionable hiking shoes from Land's End of all things. I'm looking at Vans or Chucks, but the biggest thing is comfort. I have very low arches, almost flat, and being on my feet in those AEs for more than a couple of hours wasn't comfortable at all.

So which shoes have the better support? Also, which color should I get? I live out in the desert so the shoes are inevitably going to get dirty, but it's also really hot and I don't want my feet to catch on fire.

If it helps, I mostly wear dark jeans and darker (black and grey) T-shirts. Which might be a problem in and of itself, but I'm mostly concerned about the shoes ATM. Also not sure if my brown/black belts would go with a white shoe... I'm not really looking to spend more than $70-75 on these guys.
