Some Beginner Questions

Alright, so I've just recently decided to learn Japanese. Speaking generally, are there any tips for doing this?

Anyhow, can anyone recommend some good books(or online resources are good too. Free in general is great) for kanji/grammar/conversation(not necessarily in one book)?

What about Manga? I really like comics in english, so I'd like to try using some japanese language manga to learn. I know most kids' books have hiragana as well as kanji. Where's the best place to get these in the US(preferably without having to deal with import fees and such)? I've tried amazon and it seems to be a bit barren.

Does anyone have recommendations on good manga(and anime) for beginners? I'm open to just about anything.

Finally, I'm also into video games to some degree. I like Pokemon and such. What's a good place to get games for the Gameboy/Nintendo DS in the US? I've been looking at some on ebay(mostly the new pokemon games), and they seem to be fairly expensive.

I guess I'm mostly just looking for resources and content. This isn't my first time learning a language(I speak English, Spanish, and conversational level French), so I guess I've got a general edge in the process(even though obviously, Japanese is unrelated).

Thanks all! :D
