Help finding a recipe for german meat soup (or help me find something close)

I ate at a German restaurant this weekend and had a soup that my friend and I got really excited about.

The restaurant called it Hearty Meat Soup. It didn't contain many vegetables if any (didn't notice any is what I'm saying). The broth was creamy and orange (here's a picture, http://imgur.com/ry9fe, though it looks more red). it did not taste like tomato soup.

It was very heavily spiced with whole green pepper corns and bay leaves. my friend said she tasted basil or oregano or both.

There was a lot of beef in it.
