I could really use your help finding an adorable beagle/spaniel mix a home in Los Angeles!
Cross post from r/LosAngeles, in case there are there are some of you here in So Cal who aren't subscribed to that subreddit.
Here he is. http://imgur.com/a/ceFJz
I posted in r/la last week, but unfortunately I wasn't clear enough about what happened, and mostly got responses accusing me of stealing a dog. :/
What happened was that I was walking to my car when I saw a guy tying a dog to the wheel of a trash bin by my place. I saw the leash was long enough for the dog to get out into the road, so I called to guy. He ignored me at first, I called out again. Then he turned around and said "Yours now" and started running.
I waited a little while to see if he would come back. When he didn't I brought the dog inside, and gave him some water. He seemed pretty dehydrated, and flinched a lot when I went to pet his head.
Still, I put up flyers and posted on craigslist, in case the guy that abandoned him wasn't the actual owner. No responses.
In the last week, he has thrived. He and my dog play every day, and he cuddles with me at night. I'm in contact with two rescue groups, but I'd much prefer to give him directly to a person or a family, since he's had so much instability already, and has bonded with me so quickly.
He's starting to cause conflict at home though. He keeps going after my and my roommate's cats. And my (vegan, claimed animal rights activist) roommate suggested tonight that we tie him out and leave him and hope someone else takes him. So we had a huge fight, and I'm honestly worried she's going to do something while I'm at work, even though I think she might be too terrified after the verbal barrage she got from me.
I know he'll find a good home with a rescue group, my top pick right now is Beagles and Buddies. I just wanted to check and see if any of you are looking to adopt an energetic, loving dog. He needs a lot of exercise, and he has jaws of steel so he can be kind of destructive. But he has so much love to give! I would keep him in a heartbeat if he wasn't terrible with my cat.
