Advice? I get really angry at my 3 month old daughter sometimes and it's worrying me
My wife and I had our first in April and it's been the best thing that's ever happened to us. I've never been so happy.
The problem is that when she gets in one of her "moods" and won't stop crying, I get angry. She is a pretty content baby compared to most I think. But of course she has her moments when she's fed, freshly changed, rested, etc. etc. and she just decides to cry anyway (sort of like every other baby on earth).
I don't have a violent bone in my body and I've never had much of a temper. But when she cries for what I perceive as no reason, it seems to trigger some sort or "rage" switch in my brain and I'm struggling to control it. My wife can hold her and sooth her until she finally calms down no matter how long it takes, but I just can't. I don't know how she does it. If I know the baby's basic needs are met, I just want to tell her "YOU'RE FINE, NOW SHUT THE FUCK UP" - once I actually said/yelled this and startled my wife who said she had never heard me curse in the 8 years we've been together. Another time when I was home alone with baby I had to set her in her crib and put my headphones in on full volume for 15 minutes because I just needed to cool down. That was horrible, I basically ignored my crying infant daughter for a while because I wasn't strong enough to deal with it.
I need to overcome this. When she's quiet, I'm rational and I can't even believe I'm having this problem. Any ideas for how to calmly deal with a crying baby?
