PS3 random lag/hangs? Normal?

I just got a PS3 a couple days ago and I noticed that sometimes in the home screen or PSN store, I will be unable to move my selection for a couple seconds. Is this normal?

Also, (unrelated note) anyone want to play Gotham City Impostors with me, add me: ktranca :D
