DAE think myki is terrible and costs too much?

As a student I often need to catch a bus or train to get to my destination. I often need to catch 4 buses over the course of a day. 2 to get to my destination and 2 to get back home. With a myki, this costs me around $6.00, but when buying a daily metcard (zone 2, concession) it only costs me $3.00. Apis it fair I think myki is quite frankly, crap. Or am I being too harsh?
