I was a "VIP" for RuneFest 2010 which included a trip to the Jagex offices.

Hey,

At the time I was an Administrator for Tip.It and was lucky enough to be the one selected to represent the site for RuneFest 2010. I got an all expenses paid trip to London as well as a day trip to Cambridge for a tour of the Jagex Offices.

A quick summary of what happened:

• Thursday: Arrived at Hotel, met up with everyone and had a couple of drinks at hotel bar. Headed to a bar for dinner + drinks. Gertjaars now knows me as "Drunk Guy" (I wasn't that drunk, just tired!).
• Friday: Leave hotel for Cambridge, arrive at the Player Support office and have a quick tour before getting several talks. One from head of Player Support about what they do there, one from ICU (the people who deal with botting/bug abuse etc.) and then with Andrew and MMG which was really interesting (NDA'd until August next year, but most of the things discussed are known now).
• Friday Afternoon: Headed over to the Development offices, had a quick tour there before having a talk with some of the developers (can't remember exactly who, think Tytn was there and a few other "big" names). After that half of us went into Cambridge Centre to walk around until dinner while the other half stayed at Jagex and I guess played RuneScape there =P. Met up later for dinner before heading back to London.
• Saturday: Got to RuneFest early where we had breakfast with Andrew, Paul and MMG (I sat next to Andrew at Breakfast with MMG next to him) and had a quick Q&A session there (which wasn't under NDA). After breakfast we got let in to the main area an hour early just to wonder around and collect our VIP gifts (picture below) before everyone else was let in. We had access to the staff room at the back for storage which was nice but other than that we were normal RuneFest guests at this point.
• Sunday: Living in England meant I was one of the last to leave the hotel as everyone else had flights to catch. Headed off around 12:00 after a tiring weekend.

VIP Gift

It was a great experience and really interesting to not only meet the people behind the game but also a lot of the very top players in the game.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, as I said some of the Q&As are still under NDA which sucks but I'll be happy to talk about it next August when the NDA is up (someone recorded a video of the Q&A with MMG and Andrew so hopefully that gets posted!). Just thought Reddit would be interested in this.

Cheers.
