My mother is smothering me [19F] and I'm moving out (in due time). When did you realize that living with your parents simply wasn't feasible anymore? Have any tips?
I came home from college after a spectacularly horrible year (my grades went in the toilet, I fell into a depression) and my family although devastated decided to let me stay for a year; go to community college, and then return to Uni next fall. Summer is halfway done and I'm going crazy having to ask to leave my house (regardless of hour) and about my associates. Last night my mother took away my laptop, phone, and iPad (all of which I bought, mind you) because "The electronics curfew is 9:30." I am a very respectful child, and never speak out of turn or disobey my parents. I've talked to my mother about the way she treats me and it still has not changed. My family also can't afford me at all; they promised to pay my ($300) medical bill and car insurance (which were all previously handled by me) because one of the stipulations of staying home was that I was not allowed to get a job. My bills have already gone unpaid and I cannot drop further into debt.
Living at home is killing me, and my efforts to make it better aren't helping at all.
