[DCSS] HaAK - how does Lugonu work in the end/extended game?

I got this character 3 runes and I'm looking to do more. Just cleared out the dungeon, and I suppose the abyss is next.

So how does Lugonu work in the extended game? Is it just abuse of Corrupt to break through vaults and entering the abyss as an escape option? Also, my quickblade of distortion is really annoying - I can barely kill anything with it. Is this how it's supposed to work? Should I just consider it a super form of dispersal?
