What are your thoughts on Santa Claus?

Personally I've been quite split on the idea itself. Like, if I would want my kids to grow up with the belief, just because it's such a bizarre form of lying that media and history have turned socially acceptable over. I must admit though that Christmas was one of the biggest events of my childhood and so I felt pretty devastated when after piecing together clues/jokes from school, the internet, TV, and my brain decided to grow up and comprehend the complexities involved in the character. After the revelation, Christmas has felt just like Halloween; another market ploy enacted by society to give our economy a big boost while letting us enjoy ourselves.

I'm just really curious to what everyone else thinks. Would/do your children be told about Santa Claus?
