So... I've written a full novel - now what?
Hey everyone,
I know the question might seem lame, and some people might just be like "go to the internet, dumbass." But I wanted to ask for one particular problem I'm trying to overcome.
The novel I've written is around 120,000 words. I've given copies of the manuscript to my wife and a few family members, and they've all loved it. My wife has a masters in modern English Literature, and I've worked with her to edit it (though I'm sure that we would need more to publish it).
Now, here's the catch: it uses someone else's world. More specifically (though still very vague), it uses the world of a pretty popular T.V. show (only a T.V. show - not a book/comic). However, the characters, plot, and story are all original and unique, and none of them really "interfere" with the original world or story. There's pretty minimal overlap.
A pretty good example: take the Battlestar Galactica world, only make a different Battlestar out there that never makes any connection or contact with the "core Cylons," Galactica, or Pegasus ships/characters.
To be totally honest, I wrote it for fun. I started writing one day, and I'd write 10 pages here, 10 pages there, and a year later, I ended up with a complete model.
So here I am - with a pretty fleshed out novel with some editing, thinking about going to the next step. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do next?
