Memories of ex girlfriend gone, will they come back?

So my ex girlfriend was the only girl I ever dated, we were neighbors and absolutley crazy for each other. For 3 years we spent everyday together and never got in arguments and always got along, I feel like those 3 years were a dream. She was a year younger than me and last August left for school. I was fighting depression, and this led to her leaving. I told her I thought of killing myself and 3 seconds later she ended it... She always told me she would be there and for the next 3 weeks I had the darkest days I would ever have. A couple months went by and she came back, we got in a argument and I took off into the night. Flying around town in my car with a loaded handgun, ready to end it all. Luckly a cop pulled me over and it let me cool down, as we were talking on the phone while this happened. That was the last I really heard of her and saw her. Until she came back from school for the summer. Her parents live 3 houses up and it doesn't help that I am really good friends with her dad, and he is my boss. Just the other week she started texting me and we talked at the gym, first time I had seen her in months. So let me get to the question. I realized that I had suppressed what happened and her so much that I forgot everything about us and her. The way she sounds, what we did, what we talked about, etc... As hard as I try, it's a blur or non exsistant. After a year I wish I could remember the great times we had, will they ever come back? Is this due to ptsd, or something else? Sorry for the long and random story, and if spelling and grammar are bad as I am using my phone. EDIT: I should probablly state that I am MUCH better now, no longer depressed and have moved on. It gets difficult to deal with on occasion, but I have learned a lot from the experience.
