How do I advise my friend to start praying?

My friend converted about 8 months ago alhamdulillah. He would occasionally come to the masjid with me. But then he went through a rough patch and starting going down the wrong path. Recently alhamdulillah he realized his mistake and now he's starting to read the Quran. He still doesn't really pray and I understand that its a completely different lifestyle and culture. I was just wanting some advice on what I should do. should I tell him to try to start or leave him until he starts? I just want to push him away in any way. Any advice is appreciated. Jazakallahukhair
