What true adventures have you been on? I'm talking large-scale journey type deals - or whatever constitutes an adventure to you.

I've always wished, hoped, and wondered about going on a real adventure for a real reason. The type you see in kids movies where you've gotta leave home and go on an epic journey (minus the hocus pocus and junk). I figure that SOMEONE must've had some experience that somewhat qualifies as an adventure. I know I'd love to hear about some.
