It’s Nonsense But It’s Comforting to Hear.
And any scent you left on me
I smoked away tonight
and any trace of romance here
was written in my mind.
The sand it froze our feet that night
the sea hit us like ice,
tonight just got the better of me
I couldn’t tell a lie.
Armless statues, headless ghosts,
we construct them all,
naming things we cannot know
to throw against this wall,
where streets turn into lakes and rust
everyone who cared,
all of those who shared our thoughts
of all the things we dared
to question why and talk about
that should be left unsaid,
another gap to fill the time
between present, now and then.
It’s death for some, these words for all
these words that kill and fuck,
collapse through time, collapse through space
question all your luck.
And any sense that’s left in me
I’ll drink away tonight,
we shaped our wits with gin filled bricks
but we still can’t see the light.
