r/PH, how do you support your favorite bands? (Not necessarily PH ones)

I will openly admit I pirate music. My rule of thumb though is that if the album is great, or if it is one of those bands that I willingly make an effort for, I will get out and purchase the album. I also tend to spend way too much (I live in Australia) on going to see these bands live, and then buying merch and such. If it is a local band, both nationally and around my hometown, I will without question purchase their albums/merch to support them, as there are a few bands that have given a lot to my local scene of late.

So I am wondering, how do you all approach downloading/buying music and supporting bands?
