[Self] Ever feel like you're more mature than the other teens around you?
Saturday morning (around 2, 7/7/12) my boyfriend and I were in Mcdonalds (we're night owls) minding our business. The whole restaurant is quiet, just a couple of other people are there with their laptops and whatnot. I ordered a meal that would take about 10 minutes because its made to order.
So we're waiting. In comes a group of about 5 I guess, loud as hell, obviously either high or drunk. These kids go to the same school as me, and I know of them, just not personally. They're at the counter, making a huge deal out of everything. (meals having to be waited on, breakfast isn't on yet, etc) It rubbed me the wrong way because I absolutely hate seeing people who are serving you be treated bad after seeing a close friend of mine come home and cry after her shifts at mcdonalds because some people are so horrible. But I shook it off since I'm not one for confrontation.
Once they order, the go to the back of the restaurant, but two girls stay at the front. They're hassling the crew about their meal and just carrying on and being loud. After another 5 minutes of this, they finally call out my order, in full, making sure the girls at the front know its mine. I get up to fill my drink, my boyfriend heads out, and when I turn around, these girls have their hands all over my food. One girl is eating my fries, the other is holding my burger, screaming that this isn't her food. I walk over, and say "Excuse me, that's mine." (in a snappy tone I guess because I was getting mad). The girl holding my bag throws my burger back into the bag and slams it into my chest, says "here, bitch" and the other basically throws the fries at me, which most of them ended up on the floor. I took a breath and walked away, saying to myself that it was only fast food, and it didn't matter.
As we're walking back to our car, my boyfriend takes the fries out of the bag and says he's going to get them replace since my large fry was reduced to a small. I follow him, knowing that he turns into a hot head when someone provokes him. We walk in, and ask for a replacement, and the girls immediately get pissed. Going off on how we walked out then decided to get our food replaced, how I was a bitch, etc. I snapped. I turned to them both and told them to go the hell home and stop acting like a damn fool in the middle of mcdonalds because no one wants or needs to put up with this. One girl realizes (I guess) that I'm getting serious, and say "yeah, okay, whatever." and heads back to her table. The other is steadily saying stuff, which I didn't hear since I was extremely mad and trying not to throw my drink at her. I get my fries replaced, and thank everyone who's working, and apologize that they have to deal with shitty people all night.
TLDR: got in a heated argument/fight with some girls at mcdonalds who were wasted and making a fool out of themselves.
I'm 18, just graduated last month, and these girls were now seniors, and one had a child. (she bragged about her grandmother having him for weeks as they walked in) I mean, there should be a point when you finally realize that "Oh, maybe I shouldn't act like a complete ass in public." This is most likely the reason why I only have a handful of friends.
And just so we're clear, I'm okay with drinking, weed, partying, having a good time, etc. If you use it responsibly and don't go out into public acting like a fool, and if you're out of control, go home.
So my question to you, teenagers of reddit; Do you ever feel like your much more mature than the other teens around you that you simply feel like you (and others) shouldn't have to put up with it?
