What is something that you never used to notice but now you can't un-notice?

I used to innocently/ignorantly laugh along with my japanese american friend when he would make asian jokes. Then I spent some time over seas and living in asia.

Now I can't un-notice it when people grossly generalize the different asian cultures. (for example refering to all asian food as "Chinese food" or thinking every asian alphabet is Chinese) Especially if the offender is of asian decent.

I know people aren't trying to be insensitive they just don't know any better, and it is pretentious of me to want to correct them, but I just can't un-notice and a piece of my soul feels like it's dying inside each time
