I have a question regarding reuse of parts

My whole life , like many Reddit users I have loved using computers and I just recently got into the idea of building one and learning how that all works . Also recently I had one of my laptops break on me , all that broke was the port where I would plug in my charger and it was gonna turn out to be way too much money to fix it so I just kept on using my current laptop which I write this with today . I was wondering if there was some way I could reuse those parts in the old laptop since all that is damaged is the charger port especially since I was already interested in building something of my own and understand it can be costly . Could be a dumb question I'm asking but hey I'm new to this entire idea so any feedback would be appreciated , thanks !
