Some questions: overreliance on dairy and on fruit?
Hey, Ive been trying to eat keto for the past week or so.
I havent had any trouble eliminating bread/pasta/soda/sweets but I cant seem to live off of just meat and veggies. Im not a good enough cook, and Im too picky about vegetables. I am eating alot of dairy, and a fair bit of fruit.
So first of all, in the carb counter's "acceptable foods" it lists mostly just berries and melon for fruits. How keto-friendly are other fruits like apples, oranges, and grapes? Are they perfectly ok? A rare indulgence to enjoy? or simply imcompatible with keto?
And how much dairy is too much? Meat and dairy are of course the things that satisfy my hunger, but if I end up eating less meat and more dairy, am I screwing myself up. Its tough (and expensive) to eat much meat for breakfast and lunch. Do I need to just man up and do it though, or can I continue to eat "vegetarian" (or just a single slice of ham as far as meat is concerned) 1 or 2 meals per day and satisfy myself with dairy?
And finally, how many carbs is too many, and how do I know if Im in keto-mode or not? I read about "keto flu", and wierd smelling urine/breath and it made me think Im not actually in keto. I feel great, and notice nothing wierd about my pee or my breath. And of course Im eating all this fruit and relatively carb-heavy dairy.....
