The Light Post
I was getting ready for bed tonight. It was another late night, 3am again. I shut down my computer and got up to turn around and get into bed when it caught my eye. Out of my window I noticed a small sign attached to the light post across the street. I thought it was fairly odd. No one walks past there, the sidewalk ends right at the post, and if people happen to be using the sidewalk in that direction they usually cut through the grass and use the street before reaching it.
I'm a fairly curious person, and this piqued my curiosity. I was in no way going to go out there at 3am, go across the street to read the sign. Annoyed by this i figured the only way I'd be able to see it is if i had binoculars, and i didn't. I did however have a camera phone. I quickly dismissed that idea, as there was no way the zoom was that good. Still, i was curious if i could make anything out of the poster with my phone.
After rummaging around a bit in my nightstand I managed to find my phone. I swiped over to my camera app and started to play with the zoom feature. I never played with my camera much, so it was fairly interesting. I held it up to my face, using the wide view. I scanned up and down the light pole admiring how creepily grainy the view was, almost something out of a horror movie.
The third time I moved my phone down towards the base of the pole, I noticed him. A dark clad figure. I drop my phone and mutter "fuck", as I immediately look down to where it fell, instinctively. Once the situation of what just happened sunk in, I looked back up and the figure was no longer there.
