Monitor broke. How can I access my desktop harddrive using a laptop or Android phone?

I can't find any way to copy the files from my desktop now that the monitor broke. A lot of suggestions require me to do something on the desktop before accessing it (setting up ftps, sharing folders as network locations etc.) which I obviously can't do without a monitor.

Is there no way to browse and copy the files using usb from my laptop or phone?
