[Hiring] one-time job for touching-up logo idea

Update 2: I have received quite a bit of response. I'm going to sift through it and make up my mind.

I am looking for a graphical designer to touch up a logo idea I have. I am pretty content with the idea behind it, but I just fail in execution. I am also open for suggestions/changes.

The logo is a personal one, with my initials (JG), to be used on letterhead, business card and (perhaps) website. I am currently a student Aerospace and into space. Hence the globe. Here is what I came up with so far.

My own critique is: the letters could be wider, colours are not great, J could be curved more inwards at the bottom.

My design is heavily inspired by this guy's work, look for the sphere sets. (I also e-mailed him for the job, but so far no luck)

It would be really cool if the logo could be more "spacey" by adding some orbits in there like this or this. They don't have to be factual. My initial attempts made it look like IE logo.

Lastly, on colours, the current ones suck a bit I guess, the blue I am attached to, though, for the rest feel free. I do like a bit of gradient, but no button look, 3D is fine.

I used Illustrator and GIMP, I could e-mail you the files, but suspect that they'll not be of a lot of use.

For pay: I cannot offer you a whole lot, as I'm not über rich, but I can transfer you € 50 through paypal.

Edit: I have already received a few reactions of people that are interested. I am really not looking to make this a 99designs type of thing. I'd really hate to dissappoint 90% of you or something. So if you are interested, could you show what your general idea is, with a sketch or wordings, or send me your portfolio and I'll commission it or not. Also please make sure to have a look at this dudes work, as I'd really love it if it would look similar to that.
