Help buying a keytar

I am looking to buy a keytar for as cheap a price as possible. I know of the AX synth by Roland but it is a bit out of my price range, this is more like it however it doesn't contain a sound module itself. Can I download free synths to my pc and run this controller through them, or do I have to buy a sound module?
