Some questions...
Right now I have a bunch of stuff growing in pots on my balcony.
Tomatoes: I have 2 tomato plants. One is a cherry tomato plant and one is just regular tomatoes. The cherry tomato plant has TONS of tomatoes growing but so far only one has turned red (and I swear it took a month for it to turn red). The regular tomato plant has less tomatoes but it seems to have picked up a little the past week. However, there is a group of 3 medium sized tomatoes that popped up about a month ago and don't seem to be growing anymore, but aren't turning red either.
How long does it usually take for tomatoes to ripen, and what effects it? We've had weird weather- one week it will be muggy and warm and the next week it's cool and rainy. I'm not entirely sure if they're getting enough sun or what, but the tomato plants themselves are very tall and healthy looking (I've been careful to pluck suckers too after reading that here!).
Peppers: I have a bell pepper plant that's got 4 peppers growing on it right now. They are really totally derpy looking, all crooked and shaped funny. I thought maybe when they got bigger they'd sort of straighten out but I don't think they're going to. My husband thinks that maybe bell peppers just don't do very well in pots. Is he right?
Oregano: I have an oregano plant that's doing really well but looks like it's about to flower. Should I trim off the flowering parts or is it okay to let it flower?
Also...we're about to move to a new apartment. There is a good chance I'll get to have a little piece of land to have a little garden, which is awesome because I can finally plant things in the ground and not worry about putting everything in pots. Unfortunately we aren't moving until the end of the month and it's going to get cold soon. Is there anything that I can plant within the next few months that will grow and/or thrive in cold weather? The place we're moving to is sort of up in the mountains and it's going to get REALLY cold and probably really snowy as well so I'm not sure if I should bother planting anything or just wait until next summer.
Thanks!
