What things have happened in your neighbourhood that has left you shocked?

Today was just like any other day, when my mother and I would go to pick up my little sister from school and run a few errands after that. On our way home, we noticed that 3 streets about a block away from us had been blocked off, full of squat cars, and there were 2 helicopters that flew above. Turns out that there was a man holding 3 people hostage, with an AK-47. So many thoughts went through my mind and I was left speechless and shocked.
