Friend is a needy bore- do I tell her?

I am 23F, she is 23F. We have been acquaintances since middle school and hung out a little bit in high school, but our lives truly intersected when we went to college and both found ourselves involved in the GLBTA. (For clarity's sake, nothing ever happened between us and no feelings were ever had by either party. This is a strictly platonic relationship post.) We had mutual friends within the community and our shared hometown memories made us closer friends, but I never considered her a part of my inner circle. Now we are postgrad and live close to each other. I have introduced her to my circle of friends, which she has now become a part of. Kinda.

Here's the problem: She's dull. She has no hobbies, and a ton of neuroses. She sends me a text at least every single day asking to hang out, and when I don't respond (which I tried to do to slow down the frequency at which she was texting me), she follows up with another text about how "awkward" it is that I'm not talking to her, or a text saying "hey are you mad at me lol". She never has an opinion or a plan; despite the constant badgering to hang out, it's always me that has to come up with something for the two of us to do. It makes me feel put upon, and sometimes I let that turn into taking advantage of her by making her do all of the driving or paying. She makes everything into a put-down on herself which forces everyone to compliment her.

She met my group of friends at a housewarming party I had a couple months ago. Immediately the next day she wanted contact info for every single one of them, and started texting and hanging out with them. At first I thought this was awesome, as she could have more friends to keep herself occupied. However, my friends all slowly started telling me that they all had the same problems with her that I did: she was dull, needy, and they were generally turned off by her. I felt relieved that my opinions weren't totally out of line with reality, but also felt bad that I had set this person upon my friends who were now probably going to abandon her and really hurt her feelings.

On the other hand, she's a very nice person who would never hurt a fly. It's not a bridge worth burning down, and I don't want to give her any complexes, but the general consensus about her has always been the same with everyone I've ever met, middle school to now. I know that she looks to me as a very close friend/confidante and leader. (The three prime examples being: I came out as bi in high school which helped her find the confidence to come out as gay in college; I helped her find her first job after college; my mother passed away a year before hers passed in a similar fashion and I helped her through by commiserating.) I don't know how to handle this situation tactfully. Help?

TL;DR: Known a girl for a decade and have no desire to be her close friend, but she's starting to force it. I introduced her to other people I know to try to get her to grow socially and meet people more suited to her personality, but none of them like her much. Is there anything I can do to help her while maintaining my own boundaries?
