if the foam isn’t melted from underneath after it being in direct sunlight it’s entire lifespan then you could get away with a heat gun, idk tho looks like a sticky situation, hope you fix it !

Thanks, I hope so too….it’s a job I have been putting off for a while now! Some of the foam on the edges has dried out (powdery), which I will replace as it’s only about 20mm in. There is a hard foam/rubber between the base foam and the leather.

So a heat gun might be an option, someone else has also suggested.

Hi, I have removed my dashboard from an Alfa Romeo Brera….tough job in itself. I tried to get a few local upholstery companies to do the retrim, but either said they did not want to do it, or were asking £3k!?

I have managed to get a new leather cover made to order online from a UK company. But need to take the old cover off completely (obviously) before trying to fit it. The reason for removing was that the dash has seen direct sunlight over its life, and was bubbling and coming away.

The help I need is that where the cover is not coming away, it is fixed too well, and I can’t peel it off…….any advice on how to dissolve the glue without melting the foam underneath.

Me personally I would try to get underneath it with a Stanley blade and cut away as much as possible and then maybe some sort of glue solvent to lift the remains if you don't really care for the old material ,otherwise get a heat gun on it but don't put it too close, try and heat up the area evenly

I did try a long snap off type Stanley blade, but not much look. Heat gun I might give a try…..

Have you considered getting a new one? Just the plastic maybe?

I have had a look to buy one, only ones I could find in good condition were LH drive. Others were either wrong colour stitching and in worse condition than mine. I was about to buy one off eBay but I would of been in the same situation.

Had quotes to trim, but they still wanted me to remove the current. It’s about 90% removed, so hopefully get somewhere this week. It’s off a Brera 3.2 v6 ‘S’ which I am looking at selling, so need to do a top job….
