The real neckbeards are, as always, in the comments over there defending how threatening women is, at worst, just an unfunny joke and nothing to worry about.

Edit: Boyle says this was taken out of context (but failed to give the context beyond 'it's part of a much longer show'). Believe what you will of that. But the people defending this portion in a vacuum, without referencing how it fits into a bigger show, are 100% misogynistic.

Gosh I can’t think of any context that would make that joke okay. Like even a whole show lead up of “this is a joke” for an hour wouldn’t make that an okay joke. Why do people think that’s not a problem?

prettyevilOP•

Apparently the joke might have been about mocking jokes like that and pointing out they're toxic masculinity examples.

However, it seems a lot of his audience is laughing at that joke, not at the point that it's toxic masculinity if that was the real point.

We're in a Dave Chapelle 'they were laughing at me, not with me' situation if it was meant to mock jokes like that.

Ugh Why did it need to be in the show at all? There’s plenty of ways to make fun of toxic masculinity jokes without pulling out rape and murder of a person as a punchline. So gross. Thanks for the context op, I appreciate you

RusticTroglodyte•

What the fuck "context" could make that okay?

What a disgusting fucking loser. She should be able to file fucking charges against him for hate speech

can’t wait to hear him blame cancel culture for ruining his career!

LeagueOfML•

That’s not really Frankie’s style, the most I remember him complaining about “being cancelled” and the sort was when the BBC kept cutting his critiques of Israel on his (very good) show about British politics.

And then they cry “women are not funny” while thinking this tasteless edgelord shit is hilarious and disguise their disgusting view as “dark humour - it’s just a joke bro!” 🤢

Bit off topic, but why did they type out “killing” and “raping” but censor “shooting”?

Edit: shagging not shooting. Thanks u/ScottishPixie

44
ScottishPixie•

Knowing him and British media, it's much more likely they have censored "shagging" than shooting.

Duh, silly me! Thanks for the clarification

Duuuude, so there’s this guy named speedy and he made a rape joke along the lines of “who’s gonna stop me?” Towards women and all the guys in there was laughing at this and shushing women to tell them that they don’t have any humor and it’s just “dark humor”🤢 Even some creators started using this joke and many boys started this as well. I rather be called unfunny if this is how they joke. Also, some even said “99%? I’ll make that 100 for ya” That one was about the percentage of women that was harassed or raped (either one but still horrible)

barkingsilverfox•

That’s gross as hell. I do like dark humour but usually it has to be smart and accentuated and not just disgusting and shock value. The concerning part about rape “jokes” is that some aren’t jokes at all but disguised misogynistic opinions. It’s the same shit with racism.

CharlieApplesFeminist•

How do people find rape funny? Especially when you’re “pretending” that YOU, personally, would be the rapist in the hilarious joke scenario

20
friend__doe•

Because they don't generally have to worry about being raped.

15
One_Wheel_Drive•

And it would be awful enough to generally joke about doing that to someone. He's saying it about a specific person which just makes it even worse.

12
RusticTroglodyte•

It's easy to find things funny when you think they'll never effect you and also you're a huge piece of shit

I mean… at least he’s letting us all know what a trash human being he is

BabyBertBabyErnie•

Frankie Boyle's controversies section is nearly longer than the rest of his wikipedia. He's also a raging hypocrite because he specifically called out Ricky Gervais' trans jokes as disrespectful, but has been making disgusting jokes like this one for years. He even went so far as to "joke" that Jimmy Saville was shagging Maddie McCann, and Katie Price was being raped by her own disabled son. What the hell do you call those if not disrespectful?

17
wibbly-water•

iirc Frankie Boyle's politics are relatively leftie as well. But his comedy has just always been straight up disgusting.

14
NursingGrimTown•

Frankie Boyle is a horrible bag full of both redeeming qualities and disgusting actions.

He's a hypocrite when he says his views are leftist yet continues to indulge in shock humour.

Mr-DykeChic5469•

What really boggles me about the people defending him is that it was part of a way longer bit that is exploring what is acceptable to say or not in media. What I am wondering is why that is his bit at all? Like of course he knows that's unacceptable, he knows that is a fucked up thing to say and yet he proceeds to say it. There is NO fucking context where joking about r*ping an SA victim and then murdering them is going to be okay. Doesn't matter how long the bit is or what it's about, that has already crossed the line. You're done, you've figured it out. Next bit.
