Depends a lot on what class / fantasy you enjoy playing but also if you are okay with playing a spec / class that may not be so good because you enjoy the fantasy so much. I used to think that I was capable of this but after several seasons / tiers of feeling helpless (by playing fantasy over "power") I just learned that I shouldn't put all my eggs into a single basket (fantasy / spec).
That being said, hunters and mages always good choices for both PvE and PvP. Warlocks are also a good choice but I feel will be less appealing (mostly due to fantasy I think) for a larger amount of players.
Also consider if you would like to play healer sometimes instead of just dps. If that is the case you'll probably want to go priest (don't know where they stand in PvP but had a priest on an m+ group that blasted more than mages with higher gear so like everything it depends).
That makes sense, I was considering Priest since as you said, being able to switch to healer is most likely a great option. I think even more so where holy is considered busted right now it would be a good side pick if I find DPSing isnt cutting it. Thanks!
I forgot to mention this on my other comment but you can have a look at a recent video from skillcapped on how to choose an alt (URL skip straight to ranged dps). May provide a different perspective to each spec and how they play.
Ele shaman is pretty insane right now (no idea how it is in pve, sorry.) And Rsham is one of the higher utility/skill cap healers in the game.
Thank you, I had no idea if ele shaman was in a decent spot or not. I think its pretty good in M+ which really, if im going for ksm I don't need much else besides that. My only concern was how many hits an ele shaman can take but I think the earth elemental conduit and offheals would do fine!
Ele is great for ksm. Low kick cd, utility, and bloodlust. I think enhance is fairly similar if you get the need to play melee. More then enough utility to do ksm with and fill a lot of niche roles.
