AnkiHub is finally here and we've uploaded the AnKing Overhaul deck for Step 1 & 2!

What is AnkiHub?

AnkiHub is a web application that fully integrates with Anki to facilitate mass collaboration, real-time updates, and much more, all while still allowing users to customize their Anki cards. Every time a change is accepted, you get instant updates! Click here to read our first detailed post about the project.

Will the deck only be on AnkiHub?

Yes, for the time being. If you don't want to sign up for AnkiHub, you can still download v11 here.

What was updated since v11?

How do I submit changes?

Watch the AnkiHub tutorial to see how to submit suggestions. You can also view other's suggestions on AnkiHub's website and like/dislike or comment.

Can I protect my scheduling?

The deck is now on AnkiHub. If you have any previous version of the AnKing MCAT deck or the Miledown deck, you can update and your scheduling will be protected by default. Instructions are below

How do I customize the note styling?

This new video describes the brand new AnKingOverhaul note type and the add-on that we made to make it very customizable and user friendly. It works with AnkiHub :)

This older video shows html/css formatting and this video shows some newer features that were added (the above video includes most of this).

Things you can do:

• change all fields (including hints) to be editable with the Edit Field During Review (Cloze) add-on
• change font sizes and colors
• make hint buttons open automatically and change their order
• choose how many levels of tags you want shown
• Open multiple clozes one at a time
• tons of other really cool tricks

This Github has a copy of the Customizable section of the Styling portion of the note type if you would prefer a MedShamim style

We REALLY need help to tag the deck by high/medium/low yield. With Step 1 going P/F, this would be a valuable resource, but it is a fairly large project. We want to finish it for V12. We will also be working on updating B&B Step 2 and all the new Sketchy content for Step 1 & 2

When will the next update be?

With AnkiHub, updates will be automatic on ongoing! We already have multiple changes made just since beta testing the deck on AnkiHub!

Instructions to download the deck

~Always make a backup before updating~

1. If you are starting new download directly from AnkiHub and import all the media (in step 8). (you can download v11 here and start with that, but it will be messier and there will be extra cleanup steps)
2. We recommend using Anki 2.1.54Qt5. Watch this video to upgrade if needed.
3. Watch this video to understand how AnkiHub works
4. Create an AnkiHub account: www.AnkiHub.net
5. IF you already have been studying with the AnKing Overhaul deck, set up protected fields (as shown in the video). The special fields add-on won't do anything for AnkiHub! (We recommend protecting Lecture Notes, Missed Questions, Boards & Beyond and Pathoma.)
6. Download the AnkiHub Anki add-on
7. Subscribe to the deck on AnkiHub's website, then subscribe within the Anki add-on.
8. Import additional media files (see below for pixorize, physeo, and additional media files)
9. Read the IMPORTANT Notes below to clean up your deck
10. Enjoy all the instant updates and the fact that you won't have to do this again! :)

IMPORTANT Notes:

• If you already had v11 (or earlier versions), you will have some leftover notes that didn't get v12 tags. These are notes we added the !DELETE tag too and aren't needed. You can delete all of them. Click the tag, (if you have notes you've unsuspended from that set that you want to keep, type is:suspended in the search bar after the tag and hit "Enter"), then click a note and do Ctrl+A, then right click and delete.
• There will be missing media files in the Physeo and Pixorize fields unless you download the media from their respective websites. If you don't plan to use those resources, you can select all notes and then batch edit that field and replace them with nothing.
• You might get a second deck titles "AnKing Overhaul for Step 1 & 2". That's ok. Just move those notes over to the AnKing deck. AnkiHub only deals with note IDs and doesn't affect deck structure so it doesn't matter where the cards are.
• The deck description won't update, so if it still says you're on a previous version, that's ok.
• Depending on what you protect, you might get some empty notes. To fix this, you can go to Tools->Empty Notes.
• We still haven't figured out the perfect way to coordinate adding additional media to the deck, but you will receive instructions on how to do that once we do.
• In the step 1 deck there is a !FLAG_THESE_CARDS tag. These are likely duplicates or not needed. They are broken down by why they are flagged in the subtags
• In the step 2 deck there is a !POTENTIAL_DUPLICATE tag. We recommend flagging these and trying to use step 1 cards instead of these if possible (we'll work on merging them in future updates)
