Love playing adc , hate laning with a support

Need Help

Hello adcs im an OTP Riven that is playing adc again, whe i started league i went straigth to play jinx and jhin, and ended m7 with cait, jinx, aphelios, vayne and jhin then got bored of how aids playing with a support was and decided to main riven, after 7 months without touching an adc , except vayne top for garen. I came back and instantly realised how aids it was playing with someone else in botlane, I find myself being a decent adc , but playing in a 2 people lane and the support being the one that usually decides if i win or loose lane is unbearable, how tf do you manage to play adc anymore with such braindead supports throwing your laning phase and smtimes your game? In toplane my team can troll and i are on my own and can 1v9 with riven , but as an adc? Can you give me some tricks how to manage my mental with useless supports or shall i go learn qiyana jungle?

I hate like 90% of support players at this point. In champ select and start of game I'm already tilted at my support for basically no reason at all.

Right there with you, especially when they select Yuumi or Brand. Insta-Tilt.

I tilt when they first pike yuumi so enemy supp is free to pike a hard counter and the lane is alredy lost.

To win lane with dogshit supps, you have to make it as easy as possible for them to do their job, otherwise their four braincells might not be able to land lux e or yuumi q (no offense to support mains meant).

First is manipulating wave correctly. If you have a poke/mage support (can include enchanters) then push so they can land skillshots easier, but always have good vision control or you will die to jngl gank (so dont do this against something like nunu or shaco). For engage supports generally you want to keep it in the middle or slightly pushed so they can engage without minion block/disadvantage. For scaling enchanters (sona yuumi are main ones i think), just let yourself be pushed in if the enemy has any kill threat, or slowpush to take plates.

Second is doing your job as adc. Dont get hit by naut hook when he has draven adc, dont get rooted by lux q under their turret, ping when enemy pyke is missing, watch map, recall if you are too low, cs well, followup on good engages, dont miss jhin w on rooted target, trade aggressively as lucian nami, recalling at good windows etc etc etc.

I was stuck in silver as a Mid main until I starter playing support, now I'm Gold I almost in Platinum. It was easier to climb than Mid because most support players are just very stupid. They don't care about their ADC and just want to do whatever and then complain about their carries, also trying to make full mage supports doesn't really works that well if the other support has two brain cells, it was very easy to win if not the late the games later on. Best of luck for all ADCs. I started playing Mid again after climbing but it does feels harder to win as most Mid players are not that bad.

How to get better supps:

- Position according to what you supp wants to do. If your engage supp moves forward, then let the cs go and anticipate a potential engage.

- Need to know what a specific supp wants to do. If your senna moves forward to harass, you need to help if your picl can. A rakan makes sometimes quick-engages that are only meant as poke. A Leona cares as much as mundo about canon waves as long as she can engage with w (she takes barely any dmg).

- Waves states empowers your supp. Engage supps wants the wave in the middle. Mages want to poke under tower. If the wave is in the middle the chance to get hits by a morgana bind is lower than under tower.

Note: If you don't do this, and the enemy adc does it, it's adc diff.

"e support being the one that usually decides if i win or loose lane is unbearable,"

Don't forget the jungler, certain lanes (a lot) are lost cuz of jgl/mid diff.

Generally that's solid advice, but this only works when your supp knows what they are doing. If my leona is standing half a screen behind our minions while she is full life, I have to give up my farm or risk dying to the enemy naut/blitz/pyke.

AltaccountZeri•

Every competent Leona player will either stay in front of you vs hooks champs to protect you, or in a bush. This sound more like a norm game, someoen trying her out, or very low elo xd

Just a typical gold game

Adapt, have some empathy and know what the other person want to do yep, that's botlane. I'm glad you took the time to write an intelligent and non-tilted answer ! If most of us try to stick to that and try to play as 2 instead of 1+1, we can all have great lanes !

Sad thing, when I looked your reply up, someone had already downvoted you...

Well I know it’s not “high” elo, but high gold to low plat is around the top 10% of players. That’s usually where I hover. There are still A TON of supports that seem like they have no idea what they’re doing. Idk if it’s people being auto filled a lot of what it is. There will be tank supports scared to be in front and just hiding behind waves, poke supports who just don’t poke very much or they poke the enemy through your wave repeatedly and force you to shove the wave permanently even we if don’t have vision. Or there are the supports who sit there and auto your wave and use abilities on it even if you have a freeze set up or are trying to get one set up. And don’t even get me started on how it seems like only 5% of support players know how to help the adc CS under turret. It feels like the vast majority of the time it’s a massive shit show and these are supposed to be “top 10%” lol.

Very correct... But then you get games where the support picks zyra then proceeds to miss every root and harass and ultimately ended up backing before 5 mins. It's tilting and very fking titling especially when your a zyra main and the next game your bot Lane getting kills and assists... ITS VERY TILTING.

AlessGrOP•

the thing is most of my support are just braindead and have 0 impact, hell the other day i got a yuumi support that hopped on me for 2 minutes and then left me for camille for no fkin reason, i can follow any strat but most of my supports shit themselves or smth

"the thing is most of my support are just braindead and have 0 impact"

Idk your rank, but the enemy adc has to live with his supps as well. You do get extremly bad supps (trolls, tired, dc, tilted etc) but so does the enemy. Btw a lot of adcs play supp as secondary role, and you're trashing a lot of other adc mains xd.

Better than my afk lux missing all her Q and farming my minions by mistake

There is nothing than can convince me that lux support players aren't the worst players in the game. They're all so horrible.

Thats exactly why i go sion ad, they cant ever steal your minions if u oneshot the entire wave with q

Never gonna happen, but I love how in Mobile Legends (yes, bear with me) there is no support class but rather a ROAMING class. The support champions are just like in league - tanks, enchanters, cc mages - and there are support items to give them passive gold, but they are expected to work like a second jungler and roam to all three lanes as well be present for objectives. Some chose to stay with their adc, but it's definitely not mandatory and you'll even often see duo Roamer + Mid teams who camp mid for ganks non-stop and vision on both sides.

8
helloilikedicques•

Is there a marskmen class in mobile legends as well? I'm asking because in League if adc were to be left alone in the lane they would be open to any ganks and punched by the enemy jungle&roamer since they have no agency early game. I think bot lane would become something like a second toplane and people would not even play marskman class anymore.

0
EX_Eclipse•

yea there is a marksman class but the thing is in mobile legends, marksmen have a lot more independence than league adcs. its more of a top lane range v range in mlbb since they can manage themselves because they can have just as much mobility and early game damage as assassins (varies from hero to hero)

1
LukeSelwyn•

Yeah and complimenting to what someone else answered, in MB philosophy almost every champ is designed with some mobility skill. It could be their passive or an active skill.

So some get a dash, some kite like Kalista, some blink like ezreal, etc. It's actually quite fun! Too bad the company garners such a horrible reputation for copying other titles and predatory monetization. I have to admit though that sometimes they manage to make more fun versions of League champs (even if often less balanced as well).

It's the unfortunate reality that riot has been pushing for years and it's finally at it's worst ever.

I mainly play solo ADC and got to D2, what I can recommend is to bet on Jhin and Mf, always assume the worst out of your support, and if they ask, tell them you'll be playing passive/safe.

Just farm for late or take early objectives if you deem it safe or your team is ahead. Afterwards you'll transition to mid and play with your team from there, setting up kills with Jhin w for example or turning fights around with Mf ult.

It'll be a more supportive playstyle but it's the only option other than just going braindead agro coin flipping the wins depending on the competency of your support.

And this is more of a personal opinion but Perma ban Yuumi. Unless you have bigger problems with other characters, but she is absolutely horrendous to play with and against.

7

I usually perma ban yuumi but these few patches I feel like I'm forced to ban twitch esp since I blind jhin alot of games. Can't wait for Enchanters to get nerfed.

My last 3 games as bot lane my support stole half my waves and didn't even buy a fucking sweeper 40 mins into the game 0 vision control Almost as much farm as I have Repeatedly died in lane because they never had any abilities up (from using them on the fucking minions) And they were flaming me because they almost out damaged me. So while all this advice is great in theory, my experience has been insanely tilting when playing with a random person with not enough braincells to rub together

3
AlessGrOP•

omfg that, supports giving reasons to flame them, when they do nothing you notice things, when you have more vision score than them is tilting and they usually flame you saying "u are 3/6/0 u died more than me" , meanwhile they are 0/5/0 and they didnt even got a fuckin assist, they are the most triggering people idk if I just get filleds or in general supports are emote spam braindead players

4
I3arnicus•

I've been running into this shit a lot lately, but it isn't just the support.

Been running into a lot of Jungler / Supports (Mage Supports) / Midlaners who go out of their way to steal farm I am actively getting. Like I'm talking Corki's using their Package to beat me to a wave I'm halfway to and taking it, or the Jungler getting pissed off I did the Krugs they left up for 5 minutes and are nowhere near currently, then proceeding to follow me around taking my farm. Or my support Zyra getting pissed off that I won't face-tank a Nautilus / Draven in bot lane then stealing farm off me the rest of the game.

Shit is infuriating.

1
Fernandox203020•

I would say that a good adc can play without a support and win, but seeing how things are goin for this role... I have nothing more to say than: You have to be a psycopath to win botlane alone as an adc in this meta.

Fit-Kale-9728•

My day be so fine... then BOOM! Lux support

2
Jamesish12•

You'd like yuumi, shaco, and bard; just because they are easy to ignore and don't directly affect you negatively. Good supports roam a lot and the absolute bottom of the barrel normal play is that the support roams mid after first back putting a red ward in river somewhere (the ganking mid if possible) typically both supports can run into eachother and it can be a 1v1 2v2 or 3v3 depending what everyone is doing. If it goes bad it usually is either the mid or the jungle not paying attention (depends of course on the details) only because this is textbook step one to playing support. Since it's supports job to ward the river area on bot side to help mid and protect it/help jungle with dragon. If you're support isn't doing this they are not a support player. If your support wards river bush they are not a support player, this is a horrifically bad ward. If they are a support player they ward the tri-brush near krugs (redward, though you should be doing this) or they go over the wall near blue, break all the plants and ward somewhere near there for vision on the enemey jungle. If none of this is happening completley ignore your support and farm, they know nothing of what a support is actually supposed to do. Someone like yuumi obviously won't be doing this, and for champs like sona it's dangerous, which is why people that play these champs are typically terrible support players. All you need to do is set your expectations of your support, if they do these good things you can believe they can be played around/with, if they do not show signs of doing any of this ignore them and farm.

Tl;dr set your expectations, if the support does not do the very bottom of the barrel 'good' support plays ignore them, they need to prove themselves before you do anything risky. If they ward the bottom of the river they are probably not a support player. Oh also you should love it if your support leaves lane, if you die it is 100% on you learn to control waves properly, great supports will leave lane as often as they can.

Play with a Premade that plays a Mobile engage support and can decently play them. I'm a Pyke main and I almost always leave the lane at level 6, if the enemy bot lane is either missing or dead and if we have vision on river and the enemy Jungle, to prevent a gank. Once the enemy bot lane is back in lane, I return, except we have a possibility for an antigank. I think the most important thing is to trust your support. I know, silly and something you probably don't wanna do if most of them cause you trouble, but if you lane with someone who has a decent amount of points on Soraka/Rell/Pyke or whoever you're laning with, then they probably know what they're doing, it's just on you to follow it up correctly. Also, keep in mind that the Support can be your best out of jail card, allowing you to survive sticky situations or even get out of a gank with both of you alive. However, If a majority of supports you play with just don't do a good job, then I recommend finding a Premade support with decent gameplay. Maybe someone in here? As long as they match your elo of course.

Play ADC in toplane. Easy.

Yun-Jeans•

Nothing you can do.

That's what finally made me quit the game.

-1†

Then how do high level players reach high levels thru solo ADC? Many of the games that you lose would have been won with a higher level ADC. That should tell you all that you need to know

4

This exactly.

Yeah I might play well enough to not lose a lane, but that’s not me deserving to climb; that’s me deserving to stay at my rank, or maybe go up a couple.

If you truly want to climb you should be able to carry almost any support at your rank in your lane. Sometimes it’s TRULY unplayable but that’s maybe 1/15 games

5
Yun-Jeans•

Farming under turret and essentially giving up laning phase.

1

There are ways to negate the effect of a bad support.. for instance, pick sivir and just non-stop wave clear, neither support will be able to do anything if you are just shoving waves asap and backing off.

1
Yun-Jeans•

Cant know your support is shit until the game starts, unless their so terrible that it shows on op.gg

3
snorkles01•

Then how do high level players reach high levels thru solo ADC?

A lot of them play different roles until Diamond and then switch to ADC. Even smurfs avoid ADC when they're climbing on a new account because it's a nightmare to climb on.

1

Cookie seemed to do it with relative ease

1

Play senna support
