Post Match Thread: Geelong vs St Kilda

I understand it was a bit shit tonight in the match thread, just a reminder that the Discord does exist if you want to chat with other Saints fans. Its a little less bang your head against the wall but is overall a pretty nice match viewing experience.

I'm sure the mods wouldn't mind if you posted match threads in here either for games if discord isn't your thing, maybe next week?

No shame in losing to geelong down there but to lose like that is disgraceful. Season on the line and we produce that. It’s happened so many times this season and in seasons past. We get ourselves into a game then completely stop. Mentally we are the most fragile in the league by some way. If we want to be challenging for a flag in the next decade we need to make bulk changes on and off the park. If we continue on this path the very best we will achieve is scraping into finals.

End this season please.. and the club also

The first half was feeling good. Not sure how it unraveled in the second half.

That second half was misery on a football field. Saints looked crowded and confused.

I'm so tired of defending this club every week, what a gutless effort that was with our season on the line and so many big outs for the opposition.

Rebuild this team at its peak is probably 6th. Not good enough for a flag

The ultimate problem is that our mean is a team that deserves to be around 9-11th. We can beat the poor teams, but we can't beat the best (and Geelong are on top of the ladder for a reason). Sometimes, we have periods where we are good (see the second quarter), but there is always a regression to the mean for every team, and our mean will always get killed by a team like Geelong. There's nothing horribly wrong with this, as so long as we improve the mean, which is where I am concerned.
