do yourself a favor and replace all the plastic in there with metal. you can adjust the spring tension to give the gear more grip but the plastic will eventually fail. why a $600 printer comes with a plastic extruder is beyond me.

Ok i will look into it. Es a temporary solution how much should i tighten the tension screw? I read that too much tension can also be bad.

It is probably cracked on the underside already

Yea if it’s not already broken, then the gear is worn down or the tensioner came loose. Fairly easily it can be replaced for $12.

too much tension will break the plastic, so yeah, bad. tighten it until it stops slipping. what does the brass look like on the gear? is it full of plastic? can the teeth get into the filament or are they full of residue?

That is one of the first thing i change on my ender 5 plus. Get the all metal dual dear extruder.

Print hotter, 210-220. Some pla brands need a little more heat.

Also remove the extruded arm that the filament feeds through and make sure it isn’t cracked. Most brake after a few months. Replacement kits are around $15 off Amazon.
