Are there any white cultures that haven’t been appropriated

A coworker of mine were talking and I mentioned that the whole culture of hard rock was a big part of me and he told me that it was appropriated by African people because Elvis had taken it and hard rock is just a genre of what he made famous and then has asked me to name 1 culture white people started and I haven’t found anything that white people started other than white supremacy but I don’t swing that way so I was wondering if maybe anyone on here would care to comment and help out

All cultures have appropriated something, or have some cultural similarities with others through trade, immigration, and history.

There are plenty of European things that weren’t appropriated from non-white cultures. Scottish kilts. Saint Patrick’s day. Irish whiskey. German Oktoberfest. The stereotypical t shirt and jeans. Fast food places.

Sports evolved differently in different places; basketball really wasn't directly borrowed from anything, and baseball was altered enough from what came before that it can be seen as unique, if you want to see it that way. Something like running is as old as people are but training practices and equipment seem pretty far removed from what I experienced of them in the 80s, in a sense. I still run now but I'm pretty much the only one I see not looking at a sports watch every few minutes.

Pop music is new, and it probably works to say that metal and techno are "Western" developed, or nightclub experience is. Trivial things like board games might have evolved from earlier forms but might seem novel enough to be Western. It would be hard to say that something like Christmas isn't distinct enough now from earlier forms to not have been a developed part of a Western tradition. Probably most of what is brand new is relatively negative, like the Black Friday theme, but still. Hollywood movies are like that; the form is unique, but not entirely positive.

Everything online is more or less derived from American forms; forums and such from the 80s evolved to become Facebook. It's not what people think of in terms of culture but negative patterns originate in the US, gang culture, shootings, new forms of drug epidemics, new patterns in people being homeless. The mafia was borrowed from Italy; that's not new.

That's it I'm leaving this sub. Call me when there's actual discussions going on.

i think you shouldn't worry much about that, every culture has "appropriated" things from other cultures. without that the world would never evolve, technology would stay the same, and life would be very stale.
