only because of low activity. Once activity spikes, the blockspace becomes very expensive. It's not efficient. We need ETH2, sharding and rollups

Exactly.. BTC fees are low as hell right now too. That all changes when the swarm comes back.

Actually transaction levels haven’t dropped much on mainnet - but roll-up adoption is definitely bringing down fees and reducing demand spikes.

These are great times to move ETH.

Potentially even the last cheap time

Ofc the price is low now that no one gives a shit. Just look at the volume.

Whoever wrote this article is a clickbaity piece of shit.

Let’s see what happens when the activity will increase.

Thats cause only a far smaller amount of people use it during bear.

if it has a bull run before the merge, one can expect 200 USD fees again

2
Qbaca42Tin•

The merge will not affect transaction speeds, gas cost, or transaction volume in any significant way. The primary purpose is to transfer to PoS.

I'm all for the transfer, the energy savings will be massive, but people need to set their expectations straight.

Reference the FAQ section - https://ethereum.org/en/upgrades/merge/.

Ethereum will be cheaper period.

That’s good. The one time I actually moved Etherium I was absolutely shocked at the gas fee.

Dwaas_Bjaas Shin Chan!•

Same…. I paid $20 in gas fees to move stuff from Binance. Absolutely horrible.

Its way cheaper now, but it must become at least 10-100x cheaper than it currently is

This proposal is active directly after the merge right? Or not?

It’s the next big priority. Teams are currently developing it.

Latest, now that roll-ups are live:

......because of low volume because the market crashed

Its not like any of the problems were fixed lol

As soon as the volume goes back up it will be prohibitively expensive again

Roll-ups are taking a lot of the volume now:

tldr; Ethereum fees are at their lowest level in two years. The average cost for a transaction is under 12.5 gwei. This comes ahead of a much-anticipated event known as the Merge, which is driving up the price of its cryptocurrency, ether. However, there are fewer users around to benefit.

This summary is auto generated by a bot and not meant to replace reading the original article. As always, DYOR.

I hope so, gas fee is a very very big downside people don't talk about often,

It's painful when it asks you to pay >1$, I paid $1.5, for a test transaction yesterday , imagine if gas fee was $100, it's not practical.

You might not care if you are a whale but a lot of people do small transactions like 0.1 Eth, Specially in some countries. That's like monthly wage of someone..

Other smart chains offer that for fraction, sometimes a few penny, I love that.

ChrisGilliam•

This is why ETH will lose more ground to the newer chains. Same reason I won't use BTC.

Title makes it sound like OP is expecting gas fees will go down with the merge.

Spoiler alert: they won’t.

And cities with no residence have low crime rates.

Is this article really celebrating the fact that no one is using ETH, so block space has gotten cheap?
